‘We ‘get’ what matters’

Public Sector

SCENARIO is on the AoG panel and has worked for over 40 public sector organisations, on projects ranging from very small publications to social marketing campaigns.

We understand the need to balance quality and creativity with budgetary control, high levels of transparency, confidentiality, and accountability. This requires the ability to work within tight and often immovable reporting deadlines and guidelines. We also keep accessibility and an appropriate tone top-of-mind.

Here are a few public-facing examples, as other case-studies cannot be shared due to their confidential nature.

Perceptions of Asia
Asia New Zealand Foundation Te Whītau Tūhono
This report is the Foundation’s flagship longitudinal survey. The design builds on the design of previous years, with the navigation, hierarchy and document structure evolved to enhance engagement and accessibility. Various supporting collateral – from digital assets to pull-up banners, to summaries and fact sheets were produced.

NZ Royal Commission COVID-19 Lessons Learned | Te Tira Ārai Urutā
The Commission’s purpose is to learn from the pandemic and help prepare for the future. A Māori strategist guided us to create an identity inspired by the name and rich in symbolism. Statutory documents
Electoral Commission Mō Te Kaitiaki Take Kōwhiri
For these statutory reporting documents, we applied the style guide, photography, and graphic elements provided by the Commission, to ensure consistency with collateral created elsewhere. In doing so, we ensured that these documents have the correct content hierarchy and tone, as the audience for these corporate documents differs from that of the Commission’s more public-facing collateral.

New Zealand's National Security Strategy: Secure Together Tō Tātou Korowai Manaaki
Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet
This strategy was based on a focused, integrated, and inclusive approach to Security in New Zealand. Under the guidance of a Māori adviser, the concept of a korowai (a protective cloak) with hukahuka (cord tassels) was developed. Hukahuka acknowledges those who have gone before us, which is apt for this strategy, as it incorporates lessons learned from the Christchurch mosque attacks. Various digital and print items were created.

Reports and documents
Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
The design of these documents follows established styles, but we always strive to add value by ensuring the content communicates as well as possible – by adding considered design elements and icons/illustrations that aid the reader. Various digital and printable items have been created (primarily for digital applications).

Monitoring reports
Commerce Commission Te Komihana Tauhokohoko
We recently designed this Telecommunications Monitoring Report. The design template we created aligned with the new brand style guide provided, but we also took the time to see how we could create (within these styles) a document that had some similarities in structure and layout to the previous year's document, to retain some visual link for the reader, as it is produced annually. It was really a merging of the best from both worlds! Various digital items were created.

Office of the Privacy Commissioner
The OPC regulates the Privacy Act 2020. It recently rebranded with vibrant, confident, bold colours. We have followed the guidelines in the mahi we have created, while ensuring that the content remains clear and communicates effectively. The bright colours are used to draw the eye to key areas of information, and these are supported with carefully selected tohu, clean icons and simple layouts. Various digital and print items were created (primarily for digital).
