‘a partner figure that is open and honest

Publications – Privacy Commissioner

About
The Office of the Privacy Commissioner’s job is to regulate the Privacy Act 2020 and make sure agencies (businesses and organisations) know what rules they need to follow. They also help individuals whose privacy has been breached and educate New Zealanders about their privacy rights.

They had recently rebranded with a vibrant, fresh new look, and we were asked to apply this visual system across some of their new documents.

Approach
For the latest Annual Report, the chosen direction conveyed that “The Privacy Commissioner is a partner figure that is open and honest with New Zealanders in order to establish an interconnected community.” The way we reflected this was by using two of their core brand tohu, and we came up with a design based on Unity and Communication.

Outcomes
The design is intriguing and approachable. Each spread is a burst of their new and brilliant colours. This engaging approach allows the audience to recognise them as an entity they can come to and express their problems in confidence.
