2025 Season – Stagecraft

About
Scenario has supported local non-profit theatre group Stagecraft for almost 20 years. It’s always an enjoyable project to work on, and the real challenge for us each year is to create a look that enhances Stagecraft’s overall brand by providing a strong, cohesive visual approach to the season’s plays, while promoting each production’s unique appeal.

Designs have ranged from bold illustration to eye-catching photography to ensure that the plays receive maximum visibility when they’re promoted around Wellington.

Approach
This year’s designs are underpinned by the concept of ‘layers’. Each new production of a play is a re-imagining, bringing its own ‘layers’ to the original script. At the same time, there are layers within a production – created by all the different components putting a play together – directors, actors, designers. This is depicted by combining photography of a character or characters from the play with bold illustration and graphic icons of key objects, giving the audience a sneak peek into what is awaiting them behind the curtain.

Outcomes
This consistency of style positions Stagecraft as a non-profit theatre company that takes the quality of its productions seriously.

The bold, vibrant, eye-catching styles have helped elevate interest and awareness in the plays, resulting in higher ticket sales, better turnouts and a more engaged theatre community.

It is crucial for creative community events such as these to continue in Wellington, and the first step is getting the word out. The striking visual langauge draws people in. Whether the theme is light-hearted or serious, these plays are always guaranteed to stir up riveting conversations and crucial discussions about issues facing society today.
