Event branding and collateral House of the Year (Master Builders)

About
House of the Year (HOY) is Master Builders’ highly prestigious competition that has been celebrating building excellence for over 30 years. It showcases the best homes from across the country – and the builders who construct them.

We were asked to create a brand for HOY that would be used across all competition/event collateral, both print and digital, to shine a light on the best residential builds – large and small, renovated and new – right across the country.

Approach
Over the years the design of the brand has morphed and evolved; however, the core value of celebrating the very best in residential building has been consistent. 

This brand needed to be recognisable and stand alone from the main Master Builders’ brand. The light crisp blues and the elegant gold are unique to this brand which uses dynamic shapes to emphasise and highlight the high standard of the competition.

Outcomes
This strong brand that shines a light on residential building leans into the pride Master Builders take in the quality of their work, and helps make HOY a highly anticipated event that builders are excited to participate in. 

Importantly, the colourways and shapes are designed to ensure the real heroes – the homes featured at the awards – shine.

With events large and small right across the country, culminating in the highly anticipated National finals in November, we’re proud to play our part in bringing the awards to life.
