In Brief

The Royal Society's strapline is 'a place for knowledge and excellence' – and their annual profile needs to reflect that excellence while sharing the broad range of work carried out by the Society.

The Royal Society has a long and proud history of recognising and celebrating science and technology. Arts and literature (the Humanities) came under the Royal Society's umbrella for the first time in 2010. With a flax symbol a feature of the Society's new Humanities materials, it was the perfect image for the 2010 profile cover.

The document is made dynamic and engaging through a mix of backgrounds – black, white, and colour images used as textures, while visual interest and pace are achieved through the use of scale and clearcut images.
